Dan Wimmer came to Social Security Disability law by way of a personal experience. He worked to help a family member who had suffered a career-ending disability and could not get the benefits they needed. Seeing how hard the system was to navigate, even for someone with resources and support, shaped the practice he runs today.
Before law, Dan spent more than twenty years in commercial banking, including serving as president of two banks and founding another. He later built a specialty construction company that grew to be one of the largest of its kind in the Southwest before he sold it. That background gave him the analytical habits and patience that complex disability claims demand.
A single-focus practice
This office handles Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claims, and nothing else. Keeping the practice narrow lets Dan stay current on Social Security’s rules, policies, and the court decisions that shape how claims are decided.
Because Social Security Disability is governed by federal law, Dan is not limited to a single state. Central Texas is home, but he regularly represents claimants across Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and he takes select cases elsewhere in the country. As a registered Appointed Social Security Claim Representative, he is authorized to represent claimants anywhere in the United States, so a move across state lines or a claim filed from out of state does not have to mean starting over with someone new.
Just as important, Dan handles each case himself. When you call, you speak with the attorney who is actually working on your claim, not a call center or an assistant who will pass your questions along.
An educational approach
Dan believes that informed clients make better decisions. A good deal of his work is simply explaining how Social Security evaluates a claim, in plain terms, so that you understand what the process asks of you and why the medical record matters so much. He cannot promise an outcome, but he can promise that your case will be prepared carefully and that you will understand each step.
